So, how does it work? What's the "attracting" part?
The wider definition goes back to a basic idea in science: that all solids, liquids, and gases are comprised of particles that are attracted to each other.
Law of Attraction includes this, and exceeds it, stating that if any two things are alike, they will be pulled towards one another. Like magnets.
So, if you want to "use" the Law to attract the things you want, the idea is to find a way to become a closer vibrational match to those things, which will allow them to flow naturally into your life experience.

How do I tune my vibration in the direction of the things I want?
Your emotions are an indicator of where you are, from a vibrational point of view.
Let’s use an example: You want to attract more money. How do you feel when you think about money?
Before you answer that, here's something to consider... Keep your answer extremely basic.
When you think about money, do you generally feel BAD or do you feel GOOD?
If you feel bad, THAT is your indicator of where you stand vibrationally regarding the topic of money. When you feel bad while thinking about something, it is an indicator that you are not a vibrational match to it… rather, you are a vibrational match to the LACK of it.
What do you mean by "vibration"?
Vibration refers to the "vibrational frequency" in everything.
Here's the easiest way to understand this: Quantum Physics tells us that everything in the Universe is in a constant state of vibration. Take a look at the skin on your hand: it is made up of millions of little particles vibrating at extremely fast speeds. The reason you are able to physically see it is because light (also a frequency) hits it, bounces it back to your eyes, and is translated in the brain.
Everything is vibration, including our thoughts, both conscious and subconscious.
Therefore, the things we want are also vibrating at a specific frequency. The reason certain people seem to naturally attract certain things is because their vibrations are more “tuned” to those particular things.
That last sentence is a major key understanding of Law of Attraction, so let's say it again!
When you feel bad while thinking about something,
it is an indicator that you are not a vibrational match to it…
rather, you are a vibrational match to the LACK of it.
You are being triggered by your lack of money more than your desire for money. Therefore, you unconsciously (or sometimes, consciously) push money away, rather than allowing it to come to you. In other words, you are attracting more of not having it.
This is Law of Attraction at its core.

If I think about what I want, and I feel GOOD, now what?
Then, GOOD! Keep feeling good. The key to attracting the things you want is actually simple: Focus on them, and do everything in your power to feel really, really good.
Can it really be that simple?
It is usually that simple?
Not always. And the complications usually stem from three reasons:
#1. When we really want something, it's implied that we don't have it yet. And it's easy to fall into the trap of focusing too much on not-having it -- which is not the same as focusing on the desire itself.
#2. We fall into the trap of focusing on the things we don't want, rather than what we do want. Saying "I don't want to be poor" is not the same as saying "I want to be rich!"
#3. Time. When we're first inspired by something and decide "I like that, I want that!" it is very exciting. But over time, if we're not careful, our "stuff" will start to creep in: our impatience, anxiety, general "giving up", or our own fears, excuses, or feelings of inadequacy or being not-worthy. Then we get stuck in #1, accidentally focusing on the fact that we don't have these things yet.
And for a special bonus:
4. OTHER PEOPLE. Have you ever shared your dreams and desires with someone else, only for them to tell you to "be realistic!" or "you can't do that!" Even if they love you, and even if you they mean the best for you.
If you are not standing strong in your own energetic state-of-being, other people's doubts can become YOUR doubts, which will dampen your ability to attract positive things in your life.
